Family Psychology is an underused resource in the world of psychology. Therapy is often thought of as a therapeutic relationship between the client and the therapist. For teen psychology, the teen psychologist would often involve a parent as required. The same goes for child psychology where the child psychologist would frequrntly involve a parent, or both parents, in the therapeutic process. Family psychologists can help with the following difficulties in the family unit:
- communication and miscommunication
- resolving conflict
- addressing family grief and shared trauma
- navigating separation or divorce
- address mental illness of family member(s) and impact
- address substance use of family member(s) and impact
- address addiction and/or addicitve behaviour of family member(s) and impact
The list goes on, but they are the top reasons someone may see a family psychologist. Nala Hub are proud to have a number of highly-skilled family psychologists who work with families to achieve fantastic outcomes.
