About Karina

Karina is a dedicated registered psychologist with a passion to helping young children, teens, and adolescents using an empathic and non-judgmental approach to engage children and bond in a safe and reliable therapeutic space. Karina strives to working collaboratively with families, building on strengths and resilience as well as improving communication between children and their parents.

Karina has trained in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as complementing her work with child centre practices and Mindfulness. She is a trauma informed professional with a special interest in attachment-focused therapies and Neuroscience. She has completed a variety of parent-focused techniques training, including emotion coaching through Tuning into Kids and attachment styles through the Circle of Security. She has also trained in the Seasons for Growth evidence-based change, loss and grief education program.

 

 

Karina is culturally competent, having worked with various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds including Spanish speaking families.

 

 

Karina has completed a Bachelor in Psychology, followed by a Master in Family Studies with a specialization in Family Intensive Practice at the University of Newcastle.
